Free School Meals

Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 in government-funded schools are entitled to free school meals. This means that if your child is in one of these year groups at Brampton and you choose for them to have a school dinner, you do not need to pay for it.

You may also be able to claim free school meals for a child in KS2 if you are receipt of certain benefits (listed below).

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and you are receipt of these benefits, you should still apply for free school meals via Bexley's website (link below) so that the school receives extra funding called Pupil Premium which can be used to support your child.

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

More information about Pupil Premium funding and how it is spent at Brampton can be found here:
